Our Founder
Jill Livingston grew up with a shovel in her hand. She was raised by garden enthusiasts, one of which, her father, had Masters degrees in entomology and botany. As a teenager, Jill volunteered at the Cooperative Extension and answered plant health questions after becoming one of the youngest master gardeners in Illinois. She went on to complete an undergraduate degree in Social Work counseling from the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana.
After trying out different professions, including a position working for the Governor as a capital budget analyst, she decided to turn her life-long love of plants and gardening into a career. This desire brought her to Denver, Colorado in 1999 to earn a Master of Landscape Architecture degree.
During the course of her graduate program, she studied in Paris France. While studying the historical and infamous gardens in beautiful Paris, Jill decided she would start her own company while still attending graduate school full-time. Immediately upon returning home to Denver, she transferred her inspiration and years of experience into The Green Fuse with a handful of business cards and word-of-mouth referrals.
